It is on again, the ASME WA Summer School 2012! Come along to "One Day Wonder" with Katie Wardrobe (Midnight Music) & Gayle Lawry (Upbeat), plus many more presenters including:

ASME and Music Count Us In 2011 Professional Learning Workshops

countASME WA and Music Play for Life are organising workshops for generalist and specialist teachers to prepare for the Music Count Us In event on Thursday 1st September. These workshops are free, but booking is essential to assist in catering.

Music Count Us In - September 1 Student & School Massed Singing Events

So far there are 2 massed-singing events planned for the 1st September with the possibility of more being organised as interest in this fun event increases.

  • MANDURAH: the foyer of the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, 9.10am

  • METRO: on the steps of the Perth Concert Hall, 9.10am

Music Count Us In 2011

ASME WA is supporting Music Count Us In again 2011.
We will be running special Professional Learning Workshops for teachers, in addition to special school performances planned in Perth and Mandurah.

"Summer School 2011" will have something for everyone, primary and secondary!

JANUARY 20th & 21st at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School, (Boyare Avenue, Mirrabooka. AMPLE PARKING). Michael Griffin: international presenter on Music and the Brain is the 2011 Keynote speaker. Presentation topics include: Pathways to Expertise, Finding creative opportunities in classrooms, Music in the whole school, Stress and performance. WILL YOU BE COUNTED IN???? WA WILL BE!!

Over 850 WA students from 19 schools are ready to join the Music Count Us In simultaneous singing of Come Play Your Part and Ourselves Together on the steps of the Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 2 September.

Over 500,000+  students Australia wide will be singing the same songs at 11.30amAEST which is 9.30am our time.   This year WA will be counted in. 

What a fantastic way of highlighting the benefits of music education.

The Commissioner of Police, Karl O’Callaghan, and his band The Filth along with students from Kalamunda SHS led by Peter Hind will accompany this massive choir and the effervescent Prue Ashurst, from UWA, will conduct.

Monika Kos, from Channel 7 will host the event and Adam Gilchrist will do the count down to 9.30am.

 The Minister for Education, Dr Elizabeth Constable will introduce Lauren Tarver from Wanneroo SHS, who is one of the co-composers of Ourselves Together. Lauren will describe the fantastic experience of working with the very talented musical group that composed the songs.
